01. Location data

We need to know where you are to show you the fuel prices and chargers around you. Your location is sent to our server to find nearby stations and calculate drive times. It is never linked to your identity. We use it to answer your search, then keep only an anonymous daily count of searches for the area (a district or county, never your exact location), so we can see which areas people use Nozzle in. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps a request log for troubleshooting that includes the location sent and your IP address, for 7 days, then deletes it.

You can use the app without granting location access by manually searching for a UK address or postcode.

02. No accounts

You don't need to create an account to use nozzle. We don't want your email address, your name, or your phone number. Just open the app and find fuel.

03. No tracking

We don't track you across other apps or websites. We don't sell your data to advertisers. We're in the business of finding fuel, not selling your habits.

04. Price data

The app fetches fuel prices, charger details and drive times from our API. Fuel prices come from the UK Government's Fuel Finder service. Charger locations, prices and live availability come from the charging networks' own data feeds.

Your location and a device attestation token are sent with each request. The location is used to return nearby stations and drive times, and the attestation token verifies you're using a genuine copy of the app. No personal or identifying information is included in these requests, and nothing is stored on our server.

05. Data storage

All app data is stored locally on your device. On iPhone this uses Apple's SwiftData; on Android this uses Room. This includes cached station information, your saved stations, your preferences, and price history snapshots. None of this data leaves your device.

06. Third-party services

To work out drive times, our server sends your location and the locations of nearby stations to OSRM, an open-source routing service. The request comes from our server, not your phone, so OSRM only receives coordinates: never your IP address or anything else that identifies you.

On iPhone, Nozzle uses Apple MapKit for maps. On Android, maps are drawn with MapLibre using map tiles from OpenFreeMap, which your phone downloads directly. Apple's and OpenFreeMap's own privacy terms apply to their services. We do not use any other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising frameworks, or tracking services.

07. No advertising

Nozzle contains no advertisements and does not use any advertising identifiers or tracking pixels.

08. Children's privacy

Nozzle does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

09. Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date.
